Preterm babies are at risk for increases in pCO2 and pO2, which, if undetected, can cause severe lesions and cerebral damage.
To care for these small patients, Radiometer offers continuous, non-invasive transcutaneous pCO2 and pO2 monitoring. Transcutaneous monitoring enables caregivers to stay on top of changes in the oxygenation and ventilation status of preterm babies as they occur.
If a blood sample is necessary, Radiometer’s capillary tubes can be used to delicately collect a blood sample from the baby’s heel. A dedicated mode on our blood gas analysers allows caregivers to get full insight into blood gas and other parameters, e.g. bilirubin from a minimum of patient blood.
Neonatal hypoglycemia and anaemia can be detected using our HemoCue hand-held glucose and hemoglobin analysers, which require just 10 µL of blood.
